Offline iPad Website made with HTML5 and Captivate

Just uploaded another Captivate-to-iPad video, but with a little different twist.  This one takes the HTML5 output from Captivate and converts it to an offline website.  The big difference here is that you DON’T need to be an “Apple Developer” because this isn’t an actually iPad app.  It’s essentially a web site  (HTML page) that will download all the assets is needs (images, css, javascript, etc) so it can function without an internet connection. Creating an iPad application with Captivate

UPDATE: Now that Adobe Captivate 6 is released, you do not need the “HTML5 Converter for Captivate”.  Simply use the HTML5 Publishing feature to publish the HTML/CSS/JavaScript to add into PhoneGap. I’ve created a couple posts and videos about how to make an iPad application with Adobe Captivate.  This one is a winner though.  No command line hacks.  No complicated setup.  You can watch the video here. Revisited: Captivate to the iPad

I while back, I posted a tutorial on how to convert a Captivate SWF file to an iPad app.  The tutorial involved some pretty intense command line hacking and a little bit of magic.  Nonetheless, I proved it could be done.  With an update to the HTML5 Converted for Captivate now posted to the Adobe Labs website, the process has gotten easier and has a couple additional options.  It’s still not “supported“, but I’m sure we’ll see a refined process … Continue reading
